Andy’s Experience in Spain

Andy LeCompte

I studied the Course for twenty years and gained an academic understanding of it. Then in 2008 and 2010 I attended retreats with David and other teachers from his community and saw the possibility of joining with Spirit and mighty companions to really change my life. In the spring of 2011 I felt a clear call to leave my retired life in New Hampshire and join the Living Miracles community in Utah. I was going through a dark night of the soul and wanting a major boost in my spiritual life when, in 2013, Frances Xu invited me to join her in Spain.

I arrived in Alozaina on June 8th, still fearful and doubting my worthiness, but with a strong desire to heal my mind. I have found that my companions here, my projects and tasks, and the experiential sessions offered by the stewards, Val and Kris, all help me to share, build trust and heal my mind.

The other night Frances showed the Walt Disney movie, Tangled, which is about a girl, kidnapped at birth, who one day discovers that she is really a beloved princess. Frances shared the experience she had had with the movie and the Course. And I felt it too! I had the profound experience that “I am the holy Son of God Himself.” That is who I really am. My glorious identity is fixed and unchangeable. How wonderful! That also means I can relax. I can take my little ego self more lightly, no longer needing to judge it or to strive to improve it. When I hold the Son of God perspective I feel a solid warmth inside and I am joyful.

Now I am experiencing light and happiness all over the place: gardening, swimming and hanging out at the pool, dancing freely, going to the market, squeezing fresh orange juice, and cooking with others. I feel grateful to this community and to Frances for the true empathy extended to me.
